About Us
WBC exists to glorify God through the teaching of the Bible and discipling people of all ages to fulfill their purpose in Christ.
Our Story
Waxahachie Bible Church was launched in 1981 as a church plant from Midlothian Bible Church. A group of people were interested in seeing a ministry based in Waxahachie that would effectively teach God’s Word from a non-denominational approach. The original motto of the church reflected this need and focus which was “Teaching the Word!” Soon after the church formed they purchased their first property at 1420 W. Ross and launched the AWANA ministry for children. Dickie Dixon was the first full-time pastor and served in that role for thirteen months.
Pastor Bruce Zimmerman came to WBC as the full-time pastor in June of 1985 and continues to serve as the pastor to this day. As Pastor Bruce began here the motto of the church was changed to “Committed to Christlikeness” to highlight the discipleship focus of the church. WBC was still committed to teaching the Word, but the church was not just an information disseminator. Through the teaching of the Word and the various ministries of the church the desire was to see each person of WBC growing in their maturity and lives being transformed by God’s supernatural power.
WBC was growing not only in spiritual maturity but numerically as well. In 1993 a plot of ground was purchased and the building on Ross Avenue was sold. For two years the congregation met in Marvin Elementary School while the plans were being developed for the new site of WBC at 621 N. Grand Avenue. A 14,000 square foot building was completed in the fall of 1995 as the congregation continued to grow and reach out to the community in dynamic ways. New staff positions were created to meet the growing demands of the congregation. WBC continued to have space problems that needed to be addressed so an addition of 28,000 sq feet was completed in the fall of 2001 that continues to facilitate the ministries of WBC to this day. New ministerial staff positions were also added to meet the needs of the congregation.
The motto of the church was then developed into a purpose statement tied in with the letters WBC “Welcome people into a relationship with Christ, Build them in their faith to Change their world for the glory of God.” Welcome – Build -- Change became an easy way to capture the ministry and purpose for which the congregation existed. WBC was not just to develop disciples, but disciples who were effectively reaching out to the community and becoming agents of transformation through the Gospel.
In 2009 the current mission statement of WBC was crafted by the elders, staff, and deacons and presented to the congregation which signified another important step in the congregation’s development. It is our hope that our current mission more fully and practically communicates our commitment to the Bible, discipleship, evangelism, and ultimately the worship of God, as we seek to…

Beliefs & Goals
We believe that divine-enabling gifts for service are bestowed by the Spirit upon all who are saved. While there is diversity in gifts, each believer is energized by the same Spirit, and each is called to his own divinely appointed service as God wills. These gifts are not signs of deeper spirituality. Each believer has at least one gift and it should be used to build up the body of Christ. Romans 12:6-8, I Cor. 12:4-11, I Peter 4:10-11, Eph. 4:11.
We believe that water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the only ordinances of the church and that they are for those who have accepted Christ as Savior, and that they are a scriptural means of testimony for the church of this age. Matt. 28:19, Luke 22:19-20, Acts 2:41-42, I Cor. 11:23 -26, 12:12-13.
We believe in the blessed hope and the personal and bodily return of Christ to receive believers unto himself. Titus 2:13, John 14:1- 3, I Cor. 15:51- 52, I Thess. 4:13 -18.
We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved in glory and the everlasting punishment of the lost. Dan. 12:2, John 5:28 -29, Luke 16:19 -26, Phil. 1:23, Rev. 20:10 -15.
