beliefs & goals

We believe in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired by God and inerrant in the  original writings, and that they are the supreme and final authority in all matters of faith and life II Timothy 3:16, II Peter 1:21.

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Matthew 28:19 , Mark 12:29.

We believe that God created a great number of angels; that the greatest angel became proud and rebelled  and is called Satan; that with the other angels who rebelled with him, called demons, he is seeking to destroy the kingdom of God. We believe that Satan was defeated at the cross and will be condemned to everlasting punishment at the end of the age.

Revelations 12:3-9, Isaiah 14:12-17, Ezek. 28:11-19, Eph. 6:11-12, Col. 2:15, Rev. 20:10.

We believe that God created the universe and created man in His own image; that all men have sinned in the  transgression of Adam as well as in personal experience; that they are dead in sin, and, apart from the grace of God, are totally lost and on their way to everlasting separation from God in “the lake of fire.”

Genesis 1:26, Romans 5:15-19, Eph. 2:1-3, Romans 6:23, Rev. 20:14-15.

We believe that Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the  virgin Mary, that He is true God and true man.

Luke 1:30-35, John 1:1-2.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures as a substitutionary sacrifice  to satisfy divine justice and to completely reconcile us to God; and all who truly trust him as Savior are justified  and eternally saved on the ground of His shed blood.

Romans 5:6-9, II Cor. 5:21, Gal. 3:13, Eph. 2:8-9.

We believe in the personal resurrection of our Lord and Saviour in His glorified body, in His ascension into  heaven, in His present life at the right hand of God the Father, and in His work on our behalf as high priest, mediator and advocate.

Eph.1:20; John 20:19-20, I Cor. 15:3-6, Acts 1:9-11, 22, Heb. 7:24-28, I John 2:1.

We believe that all who by faith receive the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour are “born again” of the Holy Spirit  into the family of God, and that the Holy Spirit dwells within every believer to enlighten, guide and enable him in life, testimony and service.

John 1:12, John 3:16, Romans 1:16 - 17, 8:9.

We believe that divine enabling gifts for service are bestowed by the Spirit upon all who are saved. While  there is diversity in gifts, each believer is energized by the same Spirit, and each is called to his own divinely appointed service as God wills. These gifts are not signs of deeper spirituality. Each believer has at least one

gift and it should be used to build up the body of Christ.

Romans 12:6-8, I Cor. 12:4-11, I Peter 4:10-11, Eph. 4:11.

We believe that water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are the only ordinances of the church and that they are  for those who have accepted Christ as Saviour, and that they are a scriptural means of testimony for the church of this age.

Matt. 28:19, Luke 22:19-20, Acts 2:41-42, I Cor. 11:23 -26, 12:12-13.

We believe in the blessed hope and the personal and bodily return of Christ to receive believers unto himself.

Titus 2:13, John 14:1- 3, I Cor. 15:51- 52, I Thess. 4:13 -18.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved in  glory and the everlasting punishment of the lost.

Dan. 12:2, John 5:28 -29, Luke 16:19 -26, Phil. 1:23, Rev. 20:10 -15.

WBC Vision Statement

"WBC exists to glorify God through the teaching of the Bible and discipling people of all ages to fulfill their purpose in Christ"

WBC GOALS

It is our hope that our mission, growth point structure, and our leadership strategy help us make the following goals a reality for our church.

The goals for Waxahachie Bible Church follows Romans 15:5-6 “May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give  you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” We believe the following points will direct Waxahachie Bible Church (adults, youth, and children) toward that goal:

  • We envision developing all our people into obedient worshipers of God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son and the Holy Spirit.  (Ephesians 2:17-22, John 17:1-5; Matthew 28:19-20)
  • We envision our church family being passionately and completely engaged in biblical worship that consumes our worship services,  ministries and lives. (Mark 12:30-31, Hebrews 9:1-12, Romans 12:1-2, Deuteronomy 6:4-9)
  • We envision a place where love for people springs from love for God; where joy permeates the air, and where people are one in  spirit. (Mark 12:30-31; Psalm 5:11, Psalm 20:5, Psalm 33, Acts 2:42-47; Philippians 1:8-10, 2:1-11)
  • We envision becoming a church where God’s people are committed to coming together for regular prayer gatherings.  (James 5:16; II Chron. 7:14; Matt. 21:22; Acts 1:14; Romans 12:10-13)
  • We envision becoming a healthy community through God-honoring worship services, special events, needs-based groups, prayer  gatherings, and home groups. (Romans 12:15; Acts 9:30-31; Eph. 2:19-22; I Peter 2:4-5; Romans 12:10-13; I Thessalonians 2:7-12)
  • We envision providing a discipleship structure through teaching of the Bible that will lead all of our people to fulfill God’s purpose  for their lives in Christ. ( Is. 46:10 John 17:4, Mark 10:42-45; Col. 1:9-12; Col. 1:28-29; Titus 2:11-15)
  • We envision that each and every person will be vibrantly involved in a community group. We envision becoming a church of community  groups where our people model biblical community: a safe place where we accept one another and are accepted; love and are loved; shepherd and are shepherded; encourage and are encouraged; forgive and are forgiven; and serve and are served. (Acts 2:46; Acts 4:32-37; Acts 12:12; Acts 20:20; John 13:1, 34-35; II Cor. 12:15; I Thess. 5:14)
  • We envision helping all our people to discover their spiritual gifts. Our vision is that everyone be a minister and that this will be a community where service is considered a privilege and not a burden. (Eph. 4:11-12; I Cor. 3:9; 12:4-7; I Peter 4:11-13; Romans 12:4-8; Gal. 5:13-14, 6:1-2; , Gal. 6:9-10; Titus 3:1; Titus 3:8)
  • We envision providing on-going biblical training that develops our teachers and leaders for the purpose of equipping all of us for the work of the ministry. (II Tim. 2:2; Titus 2:1-10; Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 2:42, Ephesians 4:11-12)
  • We envision meeting the needs of Ellis County in tangible ways that live out the gospel of Jesus Christ. We envision our sharing the gospel with thousands of people in the Ellis County area. (Isaiah 55:11; Acts 2:43-47; Luke 6:27-36; Romans 5:15; II Corinthians 4:15, Phil 2:14-16; I Thess. 1:8)
